Do I need a referral to see Dr. Marso?

Most patients do not need a referral to schedule an appointment with Dr. Marso. However, some insurance plans may require one, so it’s always a good idea to check with your provider beforehand.

What types of insurance does Dr. Marso accept?

The Wisconsin Foot Center accepts most types of insurance.

What can I expect during my first visit?

During your first appointment, Dr. Marso will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms, and perform a thorough foot and ankle exam. If needed, x-rays or other diagnostic tools may be used in-office. You’ll leave with a clear diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Will Dr. Marso take x-rays in his office or will I be required to go somewhere else for that?

We are able to take most necessary x-rays of your feet and ankles in right our office. Sometimes a special type of modality is needed such as an MRI or CT scan. In that case, we will gladly help you schedule an appointment with our preferred radiology lab to get the appropriate imaging for your condition.

Does Dr. Marso perform surgery on his patients?

Yes, he will perform minor surgical procedures (ingrown toenail, ulcer debridement, etc.) in the office. Other more extensive surgical procedures are normally done on an outpatient basis at Wheaton Franciscan and the Wisconsin Surgery Center.

When is bunion surgery necessary, and what is the recovery like?

Bunion surgery is recommended when pain interferes with daily activities or when the deformity progresses despite conservative care. Dr. Marso offers a range of surgical options—including Lapidus fusion and other alignment procedures—tailored to your specific needs. Most patients are weight-bearing in a boot within a few days and return to normal shoes in 6–8 weeks, depending on the procedure.

Do you perform hammertoe correction in your office or at a surgery center?

Hammertoe correction is typically performed in a surgical center under local anesthesia with sedation. Dr. Marso uses modern techniques to straighten and stabilize the toe, often allowing patients to walk in a surgical shoe shortly after the procedure.

Does Dr. Marso accept same day emergency appointments?

Dr. Marso makes sure that there is time allotted in his schedule each day for emergencies during his regular office hours.

Do you offer surgical solutions for arthritis in the foot or ankle?

Yes. For patients with arthritis in the big toe, midfoot, or ankle, Dr. Marso offers procedures like cheilectomy, joint fusion, or arthroscopy to reduce pain and improve mobility. Every surgical plan is tailored to your activity level and goals.
