In- or Out-Toe Walking is a common condition among infants and toddlers, in which the feet rotate excessively in or out during walking.
While many children outgrow this habit, other may not develop normal, healthy movement without professional intervention. Any instance of in- or out-toe walking should be reported to a podiatrist.
Causes
Most cases of in- or out-toe walking trace back to a misaligned foot border, tibia, or upper thigh bone. In-toe walking is the more common of the two conditions.
Treatments
Many cases or in- or out-toe walking resolve themselves with some intervention by Dr. Marso; others may require surgery. Leg braces, a formerly-popular treatment, have not been proven effective and are no longer used.
