Women's High Heels

Women’s feet face unique challenges, often due to poorly-fitting footwear. High heels, narrow shoes with pointed toes, and other popular styles force toes into unnaturally-shaped spaces and cause wear-and-tear on feet, ankles, knees, calves and backs. The height of the heel often determines how much longterm damage a shoe may do to the foot inside.

Dr. Marso recommends that women wear comfortable, spacious, well-fitting shoes whenever possible. Low-heeled styles with a wide toe box are the most desirable choice. If high heels are worn at all, they should be followed immediately by quality lace-up athletic shoes to counteract potential damage.
